Unfortunately there are no specific steps, you can take a look at https://github.com/aspnetzero/aspnet-zero-core/issues/2261#issuecomment-500313153.
We are planning to upgrade to Metronic 7 for the next version. You may consider waiting for it if you are willing to upgrade your solution.
